Many people can benefit from an educational website being built: parents and students both. There are a million things to find out and learn on an educational website. It’s better for everyone if a school has a well-built and organized website that informs parents, students, and whoever else about anything and everything that they could possibly want. There are many different schools across the nation and, equally so, there are many websites out there for them. There is a difference between educational websites and a regularly functioning websites. That difference being that educational/school websites aren’t trying to draw people in with the design of the website.
By this I mean have you ever seen a school’s website look flashy or cool at all? Not usually, and that is fine because there is no reason for it to be all bells and whistles. The site is purely educational and is only used for such. Most people (parents especially) would be concerned if a school’s website was flashy and full of animation. An educational website should be straightforward, informational, and professional. This is why most educational websites you see are very plain and without much color. This is how it should be because it portrays the school in a professional manner and that is exactly how you should look if you’re dealing with people’s kids everyday. Do I think they should all look the same? Probably no, but how different can you make websites from one another when your using the plainest colors and text?
I personally feel that an educational website can be built to look professional but still not look boring. There are some educational websites that throw some color in there or have some images blasting and breaking up all those walls of text. Ka-Plooey! I like it. Without something eye-catching on the pages I really do feel like I’m in school and reading up on this educational website is like homework that I really don’t want to do.
