We all have heard the stories of the couple that meet over the web in a chat room, or on a dating website. They fell in love at first IM. Don’t stories like that make you sick? I prefer the stories where the girl meets the boy and the boy ends up being some kind of stalker that terrorizes the girl and all her attractive friends. Now that is a story I can get into! But honestly there are some pretty freaky dating website horror stories. It would be horrible if a customer of yours was harmed by someone they meet on the site. But are there ways to protect your dating website from these psychos?
Actually there are several ways to make your dating website safer. One of the bigger things that has just recently been pretty big in the dating website world, are public records search. Some of the bigger dating websites have been searching through public records to ensure that the person is in fact single also not a criminal. People that are married and or a criminal are not allowed on the dating website at all. It sounds unfair, but it means keeping infidelity to a minimum and keeping your customers safe. Did you know that if a married person is caught claiming they are single on a dating website it is considered fraud. That can be a $250,000 fine and up to five years in jail. So if you’re married steer clear of dating websites, stick to your secretaries and pool boys. 
Another thing that dating websites are doing to keep their customers safe is to allow an administrator panel. This will allow your customers to contact the administrator if they have an unpleasant experience with one of the members. At that point the administrator has the right to observe the members profile and even remove it permanently from the dating website.
One other thing you can do to make your dating website safer for your customers is to let them know the dangers of meeting a stranger online. List the steps they can take to protect themselves. Make it apparent to them that no security measure is ever going to be 100% fool proof. It ultimately comes down to the customers own judgment whether or no to let this stranger into their life. Also make sure that you stress to your customersnot to give out any information about their children. The only thing that could be worse than something happening to your customer is something happening to their children.
Dating horror stories may make for a good thriller movie, but in real life it makes for only tragedy. Keep in mind that no dating website is ever going to have security measures to protect their customers completely. It is really up to the customer to keep dating website safety in mind.
