Mobile Web Design Tips

There are some important things to remember when considering having a mobile website developed. A list of tips has been compiled by DreamCo Design to serve as a good general guide whether using our mobile web design company to develop your mobile website, or another firm.

Less Truly is More
You must remember that people are viewing your website on a mobile device. With a screen that is only a couple inches big, you want ease-of-use to be the main focus. The whole purpose behind having a mobile website developed is to make accessing the important stuff on your main website that much easier. Do not clutter the mobile version with excess content, too many options, or too many links. Keep it simple.

Big Button Navigation
Call to actions should be easy and color should help dictate what is most important when you have more than one option for someone to choose. You need to help visually lead the visitor where you want them to go. It is a lot easier to click a big red "order now" button than it is to find a small text link.

Keep it Safe and Secure
For mobile websites involving website-database-tie-ins such as those involving people logging in, make sure it is obvious to the visitor that their information is secure. Spell out what they will and will not have access to from their phone and make sure that mobile "sessions" are handled uniquely, protecting your users for sites of this nature.

Identify the Main Focus
What is the most important thing that your website offers? What is the key item you want to convert on? This should be the primary focus of the mobile version of your website.

Test it in Multiple Browsers
The iPhone and iPad use Safari. Other devices use other browsers. Make sure you check the website out in multiple mobile devices, not just the one you own, to ensure there is consistency in the design.
