Web Design Service: Denied
January 3, 2008 8:02 am         I find it frustrating that some people choose the judge our completed websites based upon the fact that they think the design and layout looks “cookie-cutter”. Any well informed person would realize that our sites are made based upon what the client wants. If this means that the
client has no imagination and wants a pretty generic website then that is what we’ll give them. If they wanted a totally bitchin’ website design that was built from the ground up, well we can do that too. We can do anything that a client wants from us. I’ve recently started working off Craig’s List to get leads and do some networking and you’d be surprised the responses I get. “Your website designs look cookie cutter and generic.” “Maybe if I were a hardware store, I’d choose you.” These people act like they know what they are talking about, when in fact they don’t. If they did know, they wouldn’t be asking someone else to do the work for them. Would they? I feel insulted by these types of people with massive ego’s because by telling us these comments they feel b
etter about themselves.
I’ve looked at a lot of our web designs on the site and I feel like they are all over the board as far as web design. I think we’ve done a great job on all the websites we’ve taken part in. Even the one’s that I feel look generic because I’m not judging them on what the customer wanted with their web design. I’m looking at how it was put together, the functionality, and how good the individual designs are. This is how you look at a website to judge it’s design. People are so nearsighted that they take one quick look and automatically turn up their noses.
I feel like people are too quick to judge and be negative towards us before they even try to realize our potential. Trying to talk to these people is like trying to talk to a brick wall. They aren’t listening at all and they won’t budge.
Typical. Although with any business comes rejection before you can build your way up to the top. This is the way of it and there is nothing to change it. I hope to someone sees this blog who was a total dink and sees that they acting like one. Maybe then they would see that just because they are they one’s hiring for the job it doesn’t make them superior in any way because in the end, they are the ones asking for help. They are the ones who aren’t capable. I don’t mean to offend anyone who is needing help for web design. Just the ones that need to be brought down a notch. I suppose some positive advice for these types of people would be: He who is humble is confident and wise. He who brags is insecure and lacking. Looking to learn about web design?
