Making your music website has probably been one of the most time consuming projects that you have taken on in the life of your music website. Although it requires less footwork and you really aren’t the one building it at all, it does have you doing a lot of research, writing and management of your project. It’s not hard work in the terms of normal “work” but it is tedious and requires your attention nonetheless. In the end it is going to be one of the best investments you can make for your music if you are serious about continuing in this field as a permanent career. After your music website is built and ready to go live, there is something that is optional but also necessary.

Search engine optimization is something that is frequently overlooked by those who have music websites built for them. Without some type of SEO done on your music website it is going to be hard for you to get yourself out there to new faces. People will be able to find your website if they know your URL or if they know you by name or something of that nature. Otherwise, your music website becomes lost in the search engine results, all the way at the back at the end of the list (where no one in their right mind looks at).

Ask your web designer if they offer search engine optimization services. If they don’t, try to ask if there is somewhere or someone to whom they can refer you for that. It is imperative that you get this done at least to some extent on your music website so that you can be introduced to those who don’t know you while they are using search engines. Not getting SEO work done on your website would be a big mistake. Getting a music website built so that you can market yourself without getting search engine optimization is counter-productive to the whole reason of making a music website. Don’t let it get away from you.

Waiting for your music website to be completed is one of the most boring times of the whole project. You’ll be anxiously awaiting the finished product and it may seem like it is taking forever. There really is a lot that goes into a well designed website that has a lot of functionality, so don’t try to rush your developer into getting it finished as quick as possible. Although you shouldn’t rush them, there should be a deadline set for your developer/designer. These kinds of things should be decided and agreed upon by you and your web designer at the very beginning of the design of your music website.

Having a deadline set doesn’t mean that you should, all of a sudden, get angry when that date comes to pass. There can be and are a lot of little things that can go wrong or delay your project from being done at the exact date it was supposed to be. The deadline for your music website should be more like an estimated due date rather than a set one. Think about it this way, if you talk with your web designer/developer and they give you a date of estimated completion this is all dependant on things like: if you get your content to them in a timely manner, if they are a responsible developer, and if you don’t have any major changes during revisions.

Deadlines are meant to keep everyone on task and motivated. It’s the best way to make sure that your music website is going to be done by a certain time. There should always be a time set no matter what so that everyone stays on task and focused on the project.

There are music websites all over the internet and yours should not be lost in the surge. You can make sure that your website is memorable by the content that you include in your website and all the images that you use. There is also going to be good feedback if your design is really interesting and draws people in. Without doing SEO work this is the best that you can do with the site to make sure that people are looking and continue to stay on the website. This is why it is so important to make sure that your site conveys the image of you, your band, or your company that you want it to.

Making sure that your music website is coming along as planned is going to be your only job during the building process of your music website. Although most web designers won’t let you or have something that you can visually see while building, they should give you something before the project is deemed “done”. This is usually called a development link or whatever, something where you can see the website working and with everything you wanted on it. Make sure that everything is up to par, that things are where you want them to be, that everything works out. This way you can go back to your web designer and let them know if there is something more you want done to it.

A good web designer should give you revisions. There should be no “Ok, I’m done. See ya.” right after it’s initially built. There are always going to be problems and changes that need to be made and the web designer should be there so that you can make them. Revisions are the key to having a fine tuned website and you are entitled to them. Unless they are huge changes to the music website you should have no problems.

Choosing a web designer is probably the most time consuming part of your whole music website project. Having to do all that work andinterviews and explaining and re-explaining the same things over and over to different people is what makes it so aggravating. Once this is done with you can rest at ease because the next steps are all much easier and flow smoother. After getting all of your ideas together (a good thing to do so that you aren’t at a loss when talking to your web designer) you can talk with them about what kind of layout you are going to want and how you want your whole website set up.

After picking out everything the most important thing that your web designer is going to ask you for is your content. This is something that you NEED to give your web designer. Some people feel that this step is unimportant and they don’t understand the concept of content or what it is. Content is all the text and images that are going to be included in your website. All of this has to come from you because…. well, just because. I mean, how can you expect your web designer to generate content about you without knowing anything about you in the first place. You have a couple of choices, you can either provide all the content exactly how you want it written or you can submit a bunch of information about yourself to a content writer so that they can produce some well written content.

Without this content there is no way for your web designer to complete your project, so you should get on it. Try to get your content to your web designer in a timely fashion so that they can complete your music website even faster.

After you make that big decision that you are ready to take it to the next level, the next step is all up to you; finding someone to do it for you. A capable and creative web designer that is going to follow all your plans and ideas so that what you are imagining for your music web design will come to life on the internet. The way to go about this is really up to you but I can give you some tips that may help you make a decision or make the process a little easier.

There are a few ways to find a web designer for your music website. You can go on the internet and look up ”web designers” or “web design company” in a major search engine and see what comes up. Most likely a lot of different companies are going to show up and you can look through each of their websites. These companies should have portfolios of their previous work and if they don’t, I wouldn’t recommend using them. Make sure that you look farther into the natural search result than the first page; you may find that there is a web design company that would like to use on one of these pages.

If you’re looking for a freelancer or are wanting people to come to you there is a simple solution for you. Posting and ad on Craigslist is going to generate a lot of responses. The only advice I can offer you here is to make your ad as detailed as possible with what you are going to be wanting. The other thing about Craigslist and boards like this is that there are a lot of unqualified people that are going to respond to your ad. You will have to weed through all the bad ones to find any good, and there won’t be many.

Searching for a web designer for your music website is going to be a hard task and you should choose carefully and with your gut feelings. If you don’t like someone, even if they sound and look professional, go with someone else. It is too much of a hassle to have something bad happen in the middle of building your music website and then you have to go out and find someone else.

When looking into making a musically designed website you are deciding to make a larger investment in your venture; whether it is a band or instrument manufacturer, or whatever. Making a music website that is dedicated to your business or career is a very important decision. I’m going to talk in the perspective of creating a band website because it is something that most people are going to think about when we talk about music website and music web design. There are a lot of other bands out there that have their MySpace profile up and they think that having that is all they are going to need. I can understand this; most local and smaller bands aren’t in need of a website yet. They just need a little something to show people who they are and when they are playing in the area.

The best time that you should start to think about building a music website is going to be when you start gaining a little bit of a fan base and you’re getting booked at bigger and better venues than Joe’s Bar down the street. When you finally make this decision you should know to have some money saved up so that you can get a good looking website that does everything you want it to. At least this way, if you spend the cash now you can have the website for a long time without having to make very many changes to it. Saving up money for this when you first start playing is a good idea.

Having a website that you’ve invested in is going to come back around to you one way or another. Having a good looking music website that shows who you are and some of the music you play is going to attract more and more fans. Especially if they are looking on the internet for your genre of music or something along those lines. MySpace profiles can only do so much and although they are a great asset they are really only a supplement to the real deal.

Music web design is one of the most flexible and artistic areas of web design. There are so many ways that you can go with music web design and how you can have your website look. Typically when you go to a band’s or artist’s website the design of that is something much different than say a landscaping company’s site; where they are looking for something that is more professional looking and you are looking for something cool and original. Having a site that doesn’t have any flair when you are in the music business is doing to drive people away. If your site looks professional and uptight you won’t have a lot of people coming to the website.

When thinking about what you want for your design all you really need to think about is what you like as a person (or decide with the group). Things like colors, little graphics or designs, fonts, and how you want the layout to go. Think about all these things and putting them together to create and original website that will entice more fans to come and check you out. Make sure that you don’t create something to annoying or crazy because it will turn people off too. There is a good middle ground that can be found that is both pleasing and intriguing.

Check out major band websites and see how their sites look for guidance if you are having trouble. There are always going to be examples out there to go off of. If you have someone that you know who is good at drawing or art, maybe they could sketch you up something to show your ideas? These are all just ideas to help guide you in making a good design idea for your site. If all else fails, going to your web designer and asking for advice is also a good way to go. They will be able to at least guide you in making a good decision.

There are so many things that you can do with music web design. Most websites won’t have audio incorporated into them because it is not necessary and doesn’t have much to do with anything that they are doing. Your website (as a music website) should have a lot of audio in it. Whether it be playing once a visitor comes on the page or if you have somewhere that they can go to sample your music or hear whole songs. That is going to be the main reason that someone, who doesn’t know who you are, comes to the site. They are going to want to check out what you sound like and make judgment on whether or not they will enjoy listening to more. Think about how MySpace Music works; bands create their own profile and can show their music on the music player provided.

This should be the same concept with your website only on a bigger scale. There should be more information about you everywhere and anything that you can imagine people/fans wanting to know. Not only does the website contain music from you it should also show fans when and where you will be playing shows. The website is mostly geared towards those who already have heard about you but when doing the content you should also think about those who have no idea who you are. This is why the music samples are important; these new visitors are going to go straight to this area so that they can get to know your music right away.

Having the audio feature on your website is going to be the biggest piece that you are going to want on there. Make sure that you are putting up your best work and that the audio is recorded professionally and doesn’t sound distorted or choppy.

The benefits of having a website that fans can go to and check out your band are great. It is the best way that your band can be seen by amass of people that can see: when your band is playing, who’s in it, what kind of music you play, where you’ll be playing, and so on. All of this information would be beneficial to you and your fans. Gaining exposure so that a record label may pick you up or so that you get booked for shows. Another area that uses music web design is fan websites, ones that are dedicated to a certain band but isn’t run by the band itself. There really is no reason for these websites except for the fact that it creates a community within the internet that fans can go to and get all the information they need and feel connected to others that are using the site.

Music labels can also use music web design so that they can showcase the bands that they are sponsoring. This helps with the promotion of their bands and the networking between bands. Think about it, you go to visit a band’s label website and you see that there are a couple of other bands on there. You check them out and find out you enjoy a couple of them and end up becoming a fan/listener of theirs and buy a few CD’s. What a great way to make money for everyone! Instrument companies can have an online store that they can sell their products on. This makes it easier for people that know what they want and can just buy an instrument at an online store and have it brought to them.

The benefits for those that are on the outer ring of music web design, MP3 players, radios and things like this, are also good. This also goes back to the idea of an online store where all these products are sold. Making it convenient for those looking to buy.

Music is something that everyone listens to; there isn’t a person in the world who can say, “I have never heard any music, ever.” It just doesn’t happen. Everyone knows what music is and there are a lot of people out there that play instruments as well. Hundred of bands and groups have been formed over the years, bringing happiness to other just through song. It’s a crazy and powerful tool and therefore is one of the biggest web design areas for the internet.

So many bands and groups wanting websites to showcase them and give information to their fans. Fans themselves want to make websites dedicated to their favorite band(s). Record labels need their own websites to show who they are sponsoring and who they are as a label. Music web design is not only for the people performing or the fans watching either; think about all the music products that are out there. The actual instruments that musicians play are bought from somewhere. These manufacturers of instruments most likely have a website to go to. All of the equipment used with the instruments, from big to small; amps and microphones to capos and picks.

Going out even farther you can think of all the things that play music for the consumer. Ipods and MP3 players, CD players, radios, heck even radio stations. All of these things should/could have websites that market their merchandise or promote them in some way. It is one of the quickest and most effective ways to get noticed in today’s world. Music web design covers a lot of different people and their professions and it can and will benefit them in many ways.
