After making sure that everything is ready to go then you can just sit back and relax, right? Think again! The whole time that you are having this landscaping website built you should be on alert. Not because anything bad is going to happen but just because you should be keeping track of your project. You don’t have to do it every day but once a week or so is good enough to let your web designer know that you are waiting and that you care about your landscaping website.

After your website has been successfully completed there are a few things that you should take into consideration. How are people going to be able to find you? Does your web designer offer any type of SEO (search engine optimization) to be done on your site once completed? Are you advertising to the areas that you should be? All these questions have to do with search engine optimization. If your web designer does not offer SEO you should still get it done, somehow. SEO is very important for a website, especially a landscaping website. With SEO you can be sure that you will be found in the areas that you actually service. I mean, who wants to advertise in California if you work only in Illinois?

Having no SEO work done on your site will make it hard, for those who are looking for a landscaper, to find you on a major search engine; and that’s the point of really having a website. Promoting your business and being found by those that didn’t even know your name in the first place. Having good SEO work done on your site will help you come up higher in the natural search on most search engines. It takes a lot of work and patience but it is worth it for your business in the end.

So the hard parts are over; having to choose a web designer, get all of your content together and figuring out what it is you want out of your landscaping website. There are so many choices involved in building a landscaping website that you really should sit down and think about each of them. I talked in my previous posts about what is involved in each of these areas and you’re more than welcome to go back to them at any time. After you do all the hard work, there still are some things that you should have before going to a web designer to talk about having your landscaping website built.

There are many different websites on the internet and you should use these websites as a guide for yours. Go out on the internet and find websites that look appealing to you. You can look through hundreds of landscaping websites to find an attribute of one that you want in your site. Anything from the colors to the way the page moves, it’s really up to you how you want your site to look and feel. By visiting these other sites you can get a good grasp of what you like. Write down all of these things on a list and show it to your web designer so that they know what you want design-wise from your landscaping website.

By having these ideas to go over you can discuss with your web designer what is going to go together and what you should have second thoughts about. Your web designer is your key to understanding the world of websites. Listen to what they have to say and take it into consideration. I’m not saying that you have to do everything they say you should, but that you should just take the advice and think it over.

After getting all your content prepared and together for your landscaping website to be built, there is the nasty time of choosing a web designer. This is probably the worst and most crucial part of your whole website project. Having to choose a web designer is like pulling teeth to most people. The process of having to go out there and pick someone to hire that you are going to trust with your company’s image and your money. There are plenty of web designers out there to choose from; just waiting for you to offer your project to them. So finding a web designer is not going to be the problem, it is sorting them out that tends to be the problem.

There are two general types of web designers, freelancers and web design companies. There are some major differences between these two; price and loyalty. The pricing comes down to this, one person versus many; a web design company is going to have many people working for them and a freelancer is going to be only one person working on your whole landscaping website. This means that it is usually going to cost a bit more to go with a company than with a solo person but you have to think about what you get with a company as compared to a freelancer. A company is usually a bit more professional and can offer you things that a freelancer cannot. Freelancers tend to be somewhat limited in what they can achieve where a web design company can do almost anything.

The loyalty comes into play here because a freelancer can stop working with you really whenever they want. It’s easy for them to just forget about you, not pick up the phone, and disappear if they want. An established company is going to stick around and make sure that they are satisfying your needs. You have to really think about what you are looking for and what you are expecting out of your landscaping website. Be picky in who you choose and be sure that you feel comfortable working with them.

Along with showing images there are a few other reasons that you should want to have a landscaping website for. Although the images are very important to showing your previous work, there is a whole website dedicated to your landscaping company. There are a few other pages that can be included in your website; things like the home page, about us, your services page, and any other that you want included. The home page should be a quick introduction to who you are and what you do. This is the first impression that customers are going to get from your site and you should think about what you want written here and how you want the design to look.

The about us page is going to be just that; a page for everything about your company. This page should be filled with good background information that people are going to want to know. That includes things like, when your company was started, what area you work for, and everything your company stands for. This page gives the customer a good idea of who you are and what they can look forward to when working through you.

The last page I mentioned is your services page. This is self-explanatory so do I really need to explain it? It should obviously include everything that your company covers as far as landscaping services. There isn’t that much to it and it’s basically up to you what you decide to put on this page. Having these three main pages is obviously going to be a pretty basic landscaping website. If you have more ideas for functions that you want from your site or extra pages you should definitely talk to your web designer about it. There is nothing wrong with not following the norm; standing out from the crowd will always get you noticed in one way or another.

Your landscaping website has one major function; to promote your business. There are many ways that your landscaping website can be built and you are not limited at all in design. There is one thing that you should be sure to have on you site though. I’ve been talking about it and mentioning it in my last few posts on this topic, images. There is nothing more important on a landscaping website than the pictures of your previous work. Think about all the people who want to see what you’ve done before so they can make a decision on if they would like to use your services or not.

There is plenty of important information that is going to be included on your website; your services, contact information, your about us page. A customer is going to want to see if you are going to be able to match what they want in services and they are going to want a visual to go along with it. Your images should be organized and clean. Make sure to be taking pictures at each landscaping job that you finish, and try to get the best shots. Use a decent camera and take a lot of pictures. That way you can go through them later and pick out the best ones to represent you.

Comparing a landscaping website that has a gallery of pictures to one that doesn’t have any to show is like comparing a steak to a piece of bread. Although the landscaping company that doesn’t have pictures may be very good at what they do and have been known to be one of the best, the fact that they don’t have any pictures to show for it is kind of disturbing. The question comes to mind, “if you’re so good, why don’t you want to show it?” Think about using images to help show your professionalism.

As long as you have a landscaping website that promotes your business there will always be benefits coming back to you. Think about all the advertising you are doing for your company by just having a website up and running. Anyone in the world can look at your business’ website and see who you are and what you do. Granted, as a landscaper, you most likely only work within a specific area but it is still good to be available to anyone. You never know, building up your business you may one day be a national landscaping company. Always think about the future when building your landscaping website.

Having a landscaping website not only benefits your company it also benefits your customers. The ability to see a website that shows a wealth of information about you is going to entice many customers in your area to use you as a professional landscaper. Potential customers using your site are going to be able to see images of your previous work. This is one of the most important and beneficial parts of a landscaping website. The customer’s ability to see what you have done and see it through pictures is going to sell someone instantly.

If someone can see all the previous work that you’ve done they will be more convinced that you can do the job that they require. IT benefits the customer to see your website because they can get a feel for who you are and how you work. It’s more comfortable for them to get to know you without having to contact you or set up a meeting/consultation.

Landscaping web design is one of the fastest growing areas of web design today. I’ve seen more business owners looking for a website to represent their landscaping company than a lot of others. These owners are looking to put their businesses out there on the internet in order to draw in more business for their company. It’s a great idea because it puts them out there so that they are available to potential clients and others looking for more information about them.

With a landscaping website dedicated to your company you are showing that you want your business to be found by a wider range of people. Word of mouth is a great tool and has worked for a long time but there are more efficient ways of going about spreading word of your business to potential customers. A landscaping website is there to show your customers things that can’t be said; images and visual effects. These things are sometimes the selling point, especially for landscapers because customers are always going to want to see your previous work and how skilled you are at what you do.

Having a landscaping website is great marketing for your company. Most landscaping companies work in a designated area only and therefore only want to advertise out to a certain range.

There are a few things you may want to consider about landscaping web design. Having a website is unlike any other form of marketing or advertising. Just the whole concept of a website has a totally different feel and structure then other avenues of advertising.

First off a landscaping website is not a submissive form of advertising. Other forms of advertising take that more a passive or submissive approach. When you put an ad in the newspaper or put flyers in the mail bow you are using a more passive approach. The people you are giving those flyers to or who are going to opening the paper are not necessarily going to be needing your services. However people who find your landscaping website are going to be seeking out your services. So they already know they need your help. It is up to you and your landscaping website to sell it to them.

Your Landscaping website is also going to be interactive where other forms of marketing have no interaction what so ever. A TV commercial has no interaction; you do not have to worry about the functionality of a TV commercial. People are either going to see it and seek out your landscaping services. Or they are going to see the commercial and ignore it. On your landscaping website you have to think about how the entire website is going to function. Functionality is everything from what the drop down menus are going to have in them, to what certain buttons are going to do.

You have to remember that your landscaping website is going to be those potential clients first impression of you and your services. If your landscaping website looks crappy or the functionality is garbage people are going to expect that out of your services. You want your landscaping website to look as great as your services. You wouldn’t buy a car from a dealership that looked like a bomb had fallen on it. It comes down to putting yourself in the shoes of the customer. Think about the things they are going to want to see on you landscaping website, and make damn sure that its on there.

Ultimately your landscaping website is going to be a very important investment. You want to make sure you take care of that investment and it will take care of you. DreamCo Design understands this investment relationship. We know that you are going to be looking for a web designer you can trust with your business. Over hundreds of businesses have trusted DreamCo Design for their web design needs.

When your get your ideas ready for your landscaping website you still have the difficult choice of choosing a web developer. The biggest choice is going to be whether you are going to use a freelance web developer or a web design company. There are pros and cons to each side, but you can bet that going with a company might be the right choice.

Is cost a huge issue to you? Let’s face it cost is a huge issue for all of us, no matter how much dough you have your hands on. Web design can be a pretty costly endeavor, so be prepared to spend a little bit of your kid’s college fund. But really it is not that bad if you do your research and more then likely your landscaping website is going to bring in more cash for you then you spent on it, so don’t fret. Choosing a freelance web designer will most likely not cost you as much as a web design company. Just do to the fact that that person is self employed and does not have any real costs to cover. Where a web design firm is going to have to pay it’s employees and cover other costs as well.

So a freelance web designer on average might cost a little less then a web design firm but what are you getting out of the deal? You need to be wary of some people. You are going to be trusting this person with all your companies’ information, money, and more importantly your company’s image. Make sure that the freelance designer is going to allow you to revise your landscaping website if it is not to your specifications. Also keep in mind that the freelance web designer is not really have any loyalty to you. After they are done with your project they may decide to never pick up their phone for you. But with a company you have more loyalty, and they usually have to answer their phones. Just based on the fact that a company has more to lose then the single freelance web designer.

Companies are there for a reason and that is to make money. So they will usually do whatever they can to make you happy. They know, just the same as you, that happy customers spend money. Then they tell their friends how happy they were and then their friends spend money too. It is a great cycle. But a freelancer does not have to be that way. They really don not have as much to lose.

It may sound like freelancer web designers are bad people. That is just not true. Most freelancer web designers are great honest people that do the most amazing work. It is just those few that ruin it for the bunch. So all in all freelance web designers are usually great, they work for a little bit less and still put out great work. But one major problem is that not all freelancers can do everything you need them to. Some may only be great at a few things. You may find yourself going to two freelance web designers for your landscaping website. But at a web design company they more then likely have everyone in one spot. If there is something on your landscaping website that one developer can not do, then their usually is another in house that can handle it. So you are still only dealing with one place instead of going to two totally different people.

Both freelance web designers and web design companies have their pros and cons. It is probably best to go with a web design company just based on the fact that they can be a one stop shop. That is exactly what DreamCo Design is, a one stop shop for all your landscaping web design and other media needs. If it can be put on the web, we can do it. If you need flyers and business cards, we can do it. If you need a logo designed, we can do it. To take full advantage of DreamCo Design give us a call today.
