With all the previous posts about wedding/ event web design and everything that you should look for and be careful of. Things like making sure your web designer is reliable and trustworthy to figuring out what you want and what your customers are going to want from your site. There is a lot that goes into designing a nice and functioning wedding/ event website. You should be involved in every step, after all, this is your website and it’s an investment. You put money into this so that you can hopefully get money out of it. In fact, hopefully you get more money out of it than you put in; in most situations, this is the case.

Having put a good bit of money into a website seems like almost a wasted investment because you really can’t “touch” your website. It’s not something that you can store away in your house. It’s out there on the internet just waiting to be used, a bunch of code and images put together nicely to showcase your business. It seems like it would be a great risk to even think about investing in something like this; especially for those who are getting the more expensive websites. These website are ones that include shopping carts and a lot of different functions for their customers and visitors.

I can honestly say that if you are an old or new business that having a website dedicated to your business is a good investment; even if it’s not palpable. There is so much that comes back to you with having a website that you won’t have to think about, “Wow, how much did I just spend on that website?” Having a website is one of the easiest ways to market your business and everyone should think about getting one.

Keeping on the topic of search engine optimization from my last post, I wanted to keep talking about the benefits for your wedding/ event website. The reason for having two posts about search engine optimization is because it is so important to a website. I feel like I should reiterate that fact; search engine optimization is VERY IMPORTANT for your wedding/ event website. If you want people who are completely unaware of your company to be shown that you exist, then search engine optimization is a must. If you’re not looking for that, well, I don’t even know why you would make a website, really.

There are many different things to do for search engine optimization. All of the content on your wedding/ event website helps with SEO. The content means all the text and images that are on your site. There are other things that can be done to your website by someone who is familiar with search engine optimization. These things that can be done are, like, changing the title tags, Meta tags, and all these other technical tags that most people don’t know about. Doing this tremendously helps with search engines like Google, and Yahoo. There are other techniques that are used by SEO experts but if I told you what they all were, my head might explode.

Search engine optimization techniques are changing all the time. Search engines usually change the rules as to what they look for on websites and what is acceptable and what is not as far as SEO goes. A search engine optimization expert has to keep updated on all the changes that happen and all the rules for SEO. This is a full time job for some people and they take it very seriously. For your wedding/ event website, you really don’t have to have a team of SEO people working on it full blast. Having a good marketing strategy set up and put into play will be just fine for any starter wedding/ event website.

So now you’ve learned about the whole process of creating and building a wedding/ event website. There is a lot that goes into it and a lot expected to come out of it. I told you in a previous post about the possible upkeep that is going to have to take place with owning a website. Even though you may think you’re done, you’re not! There is more to do and some people don’t even know about this step. Granted there are quite a few that do and it is very important to them, but for some it doesn’t even come to mind. I’m talking about search engine optimization, or in other words, SEO. This little concoction of words means a whole lot to a lot of different websites.

The basic explanation for the question, “what is search engine optimization?” is this: everything! Search engine optimization does so much for your website that it would be almost pointless to have a wedding/ event website without having some search engine optimization work done. Think about trying to find a piece of salt in a huge pile of sand. Now transfer this though over to the internet. There is literally millions of websites out there on all different topics. Your website is the salt and people want to be able to find it without digging through all the sand. Search engine optimization is the best way to help your wedding/ event website be found on the internet.

Without knowing what your exact web address is, no one will be able to find your wedding/ event website without using a search engine. Searching for your key terms won’t make any progress if you don’t have SEO work done. They will be lucky to find you on one of the first five pages of the search engine results. Don’t ever let your website just sit on the internet without bringing you anything. Ask about SEO with your web design company and they will either have something they can offer you or point you in the right direction.

With all the time and effort that has been put into your wedding/ event web design project, it feels good to know when it is finally done. Completed for you to have and to hold, to cherish, until death do you part; well, maybe not that long. You may think all the work is over but handling and maintaining a website is a job in itself. Try as you might to not have to do any work on your wedding/ event website you’ll soon find that your website is falling apart, unmaintained and looking like hell. Taking care of your website is going to be something that you have to set aside time for; or you could hire someone (if you so choose) to take care of all that for you.

Either way you go about it, it has to be done. So you’d better get use to the idea now. In fact, you should have known about this whole “upkeep” thing before you even decided that having a wedding/ event website built was a great idea. So you’re probably asking yourself, “What am I going to have to maintain? There’s nothing on my site that needs maintenance.” Well, you may think so now but there could be situations with your site in the future that need to be addressed. Things like, changing of locations, or any text that you need to be changed. What about if your images are out of date and you want to add new ones? All these things have to be taken into consideration.

There are a few ways to go about maintenance of your wedding/ event website. You can do it yourself by either; a.) manually doing it yourself (not recommended if you don’t know what you’re doing) or b.) making sure that there is an admin panel built into your website to make it easy for you to edit and remove pictures and text. Sometimes, learning how to take care of your website or having someone else do it for you is most likely going to be the best way to go about being able to maintain your wedding/ event website.

After you go through all your major decisions about how to design your wedding/ event website and how you want it to function. The building commences. Keeping a close eye on your project is always going to be a good thing to do. This ensures that your wedding/ event website is being built the way you want it to. You should do weekly checks on the progress of your site just to make sure that everything is moving along smoothly. Although most companies won’t let you see the site before it is finished, you can still call and ask about it.

The reason that some web design companies don’t let you see your website as it is being built is because it isn’t done. Someone once said, seeing a website before it is done is like seeing a car without the doors, it won’t make any sense and you wouldn’t even think of buying it at that moment. It is for this reason that you most likely won’t get to see your wedding/ event website until the development link is available. This is nothing out of the ordinary and you shouldn’t see it as the web design company being secretive with your project.

One the other side, if you were to never check in on your project, how would you know if it was even being worked on? There should be a lot of trust between you and your web design company but some need to be motivated to keep on top of your project. A web design company usually deals with multiple projects at one time and if there is a customer that is not keeping up with their project it is sometimes put a little behind in production.

There are is a lot you can do before you go to a web design company to design your wedding/ event website. I talked about getting ideas from other websites to supplement your own. This is always helpful to both you and the web designer. There are plenty of websites that you can review to get ideas of how you want yours to look. It’s just a matter of finding the time to sit down and surf the internet for a more extended period of time than you are most likely used to. After getting everything you think looks good and you want on your site there are still some things that you should include in your website that you might not realize.

As far as the wedding/ event website goes you should think about the functionality of it as well. Looks are important but functionality is the backbone of your website. Most people don’t think too much about the functionality of a website because it just doesn’t cross their minds. The functionality of a website deals with the number of pages and navigation, to the different options that users/visitors have when viewing your wedding/ event website. Going over all of these with your chosen web design company is one of the first steps before starting to build your website.

This is why it is important to think about functionality and how it relates to your website. What do you want your visitors able to do on your website? To answer this you should think about the goal of your website. Try to figure out what a visitor is going to want to see or be able to do on your wedding/ event website. Your wedding/ event website depends on the people using and viewing it. Therefore you should be thinking about them during this whole process.

There are a lot of different aspects that are involved in wedding/ event web design. All these different parts, if put together correctly, will create a great website that many people can find, use, and enjoy. There are always going to be people looking to find out more about your company and to give that information, you should have an interesting and informational website designed to suit your company. If you’re a more well-established conservative company, your website should look clean and professional. If you’re a new business that believes in a little flare, bring it over in your website by making a flashy well put together website that shows it.

When thinking about your wedding/ event website and what design you would like to see, a lot of people get stuck here. They don’t realize all the different possibilities available to them and they don’t know the boundaries of web design. This is why it is good to look for some other, already created websites that you feel you would like your wedding/ event website to look like. You don’t have to look at other wedding/ event websites to do this either. Just surf randomly to all website categories. Each one is done differently and you might find something you like for your wedding/ event website on a website for a florist. Who knows?

Having gathered a list of ideas and websites that you want to incorporate into yours, you are ready to talk to a web design company. Having these ideas already started up will help both you and the web design company because you have a clear idea of what you are looking for. It saves both parties a lot of hassle later in the process if you know what you want and are prepared with ideas.

Wedding/ Event web design can be used by a multitude of different people. There are always those out there looking to learn more about a venue or some type of wedding planner. Having your own website for this is the best way to get noticed by people these days. Everyone is looking on the internet for information and if you’re not visible you’re basically losing all that business you could have gotten. Having a wedding/ event website on the internet is a great benefit to any business related to any type of wedding or event planning. There are a few general reasons why you should seriously consider having a wedding/ event website built for you.

One of the main reasons is publicity! You want your company to be seen by everyone available to view it. This means getting yourself out there on the internet so that everyone looking for your services can find you. Having a business and having a business website goes hand in hand these days. There are so many people who don’t have a website dedicated to their wedding/ event web design and are relying on word of mouth to get them through. This works fine in many cases; a well established business that has been around for a while is going to have a good reputation and good business. A new company that doesn’t have very many or any clients should take advantage of this extra little boost to help jump start the business. It is definitely worth it.

Another good reason to have your business on the internet is because it will showcase your previous work, whatever that may be. There are always going to be visitors to your website wanting to see everything they can about you, without actually having to talk to you in any way. This is why it is beneficial to have a website; because it is a way to sell yourself without actually having to talk to anyone. For this reason you should really think about what you’re putting on your site. But more on that in a later post. Thinking about having a wedding/ event website dedicated to your business is the first move to improving the flow of customers.

There are a lot of different web designers out there. You can find them anywhere you go because web design has become such a lucrative business. There are less web design companies out there than there are freelancers. The difference between a freelancer and a web design company is that a freelancer doesn’t work under any company. They do their work by themselves and aren’t necessarily governed by any rules. A web design company has been registered and has to follow certain guidelines. It is usually a team of people all working together to keep the business going.

When deciding to choose a web designer/developer to build your wedding/event website you should choose carefully. The world of web design is a really screwy place because people don’t really have a lot of knowledge about it. There are a few things that you can do to help with your decision. One thing would be to get everything in writing. Although you will most likely not ever be required to sign a contract with a web designer, especially a freelancer, you can still have piece of mind. This way it is clear to you and your web designer what you’re expecting and what needs to be done on your wedding/event website.

Another idea would be to not pay for everything up front. Although a lot of designers will ask you to pay at least a deposit up front, none should ask for it all. This is a warning sign and you should think twice about why they would want all your money up front like that. There are plenty of scammers out there that will have you pay them and disappear. This is another benefit to hiring a web design company, because they are situated in one area and are grounded. There are a lot of monsters out there in the world of web design; be careful with who you choose.

There are many different people that can use wedding/event web design. Since this category is so large there are millions of people viewing these types of websites everyday. In turn, there are also a lot of people looking to build these types of websites. When you think about event web design it could pertain to something like weddings, banquets, or other large events like this. There are a lot of people that go onto the internet to look for information on these topics. They want to know all the information they can without having to call someone. It’s all about convenience and efficiency.

The people that will most likely be visiting your wedding/event website are going to be potential client who may want to use your services. These potential clients are going to want to check out everything that you can offer them. In terms of a wedding website there could be a lot of different variations on the site. For example, a website for a wedding planner could be one. They would have to have all their information on the site that pertains to what they can do to benefit their clients. Another example could be a banquet hall telling about all the benefits of scheduling your event at their establishment. All these different event websites all have their own way to tell potential clients why they should choose them.

By having a website dedicated to your company, there are a lot of benefits that come along with it. Immediate exposure for your company by throwing you out there on the internet; a tool that so many people use today for everything. Another benefit being that your website will generate leads that you otherwise wouldn’t get. Having a wedding/event website opens up a lot of doors for your company. It’s definitely more beneficial than you think.
