Educational Web Design: Being An Investor

After talking a little about who would benefit from an educational website we discussed what an educational website is and what would be included in one. There are many different people that use educational websites everyday. There are a lot of things that go into building an educational website. You have to think a lot about the design and how you are wanting the school to be portrayed. Educational websites are usually very plain and without a lot of color. They are also very professional looking, which is good because that is what is expected. When starting to build an educational website you have to be prepared to invest in it.

Although most educational websites are not built by a single person and are usually backed by the whole school there is still an investment to be made. Usually a school has a website already right away when it is first built. A lot of schools have had their websites for a long time and have kept them the same throughout their existence. This is usually the case. Although most of these websites have already been developed there is still room for improvement, especially as we move forward with technology. This is always a good investment for the school to make, updating their website, because it shows students and parents that the school really does care about the information being given out by their institution.

The college has to think about investing in some sort of outside marketing to help show off their school to people looking from outside the state. That means that the website needs to be well put together for those who aren’t able to actually come and physically see the school. So the site has to be designed so that people looking from a distance can really see your school. For more information on educational web design check us out at DreamCo DesignEducational Web Design. Educational Web Design: Designing For The Student

I talked a little bit in my last post about how the design of an educational website should not be flashy or have a lot going on. I talked about how it should be kept pretty plain and professional looking. I’ve also mentioned who would benefit from having an educational website dedicated to a school. There are two main people that are going to be looking at an educational website. One being the parents and this is for when the student is too young to think about anything other than what 4×4 is. It’s sixteen. The other is for the students; this is usually and in most cases college websites.

A college website should be geared towards the student rather than the parents. This is because is it is normally the student who looks around at what schools they would like to attend. There should therefore be some good information presented to the student right away. College websites are usually put together a little better than most primary school websites. This is for a couple of reasons. One being that colleges make a lot more money as far as tuition and fees go than other schools. Also because college is a very important time in a students life. It is where you get the degree you’ll be using for the rest of your life. There is a lot of pressure that comes along with college and students want to find the perfect college for them. This is why an educational website on this level is built to impress.

A college’s website should have a layout that is very simple. With the buttons generally across the top of down the left hand side. Pictures help immensely on college websites because students will want and enjoy seeing visuals of a place they will possibly be spending four years of their life. There should also be a lot of information that should be broken up into a couple categories: new students, returning students, etc. These features should be present on every educational website made at the college level.
