As you go about having an educational website built there is something that you should keep in mind. Who is going to do the SEO work? SEO stands for search engine optimization, which basically refers to a websites ability to be found by major search engines. This is one of the most important aspects that you need to discuss with your web design company. Ask them if they offer it and what the pricing is for it. No matter what, you need to have SEO work done on your educational website so that you can be seen. Although educational websites run a little differently and they are not out there to make any money it is still important that you are found when someone is searching for you.

A college’s website would be a different story though. If you think about someone searching for a college located in North Carolina, they might enter the key words, “Colleges in North Carolina”. This is where, with the proper SEO techniques, your educational website should appear at least in the first couple pages if you have good SEO work. Although it is very difficult to promise anyone that they will be on the first page of results it is generally an achievement if your website can be found there. When searching with more specific terms, your website should come up right away. For example, using the name of your school should bring you up as most likely the first result on a search engine.

Without SEO you’re bound to almost never be found. You won’t even come up on search engine results and there will be frustration and panic that ensues. Although you may think that you can get away without having SEO work done on your educational website; this is false and you really can’t go without it. So keep in mind when your having your educational website built that you ask about search engine optimization and what it can do for your site.

We’ve talked a lot about educational web design and how it benefits many different people. We also mentioned how a lot goes into designing an educational website even though it doesn’t look glamorous or flashy. Most educational websites look very plain yet very professional. There is a large part of educational web design that I haven’t covered yet and that is, who is going to do it? This is a very important question because it should involve a certain level of trust with the web designer you choose. This is because they have complete control over what they do to your website and there are a lot of dangers out there in the world of web design.

As you are looking for a web designer to redo or even first build your educational website there are some things that you should know. The first thing that you should be aware of is that if you choose to be cheap you’re going to get low quality results. There are some people out there that will do a job for you at a very low cost and the ending result is amateur looking and may not function correctly. You can’t really blame the web designer/developer that you chose because you get what you pay for. The second thing that you should think about is whether to choose a freelancer to do your work or a web design company. There are some major differences with these two options. One of the differences is that with a web design company there comes a level of professionalism and trust that you may not feel with a freelancer. Because a freelancer is just one person working on (most likely) multiple jobs at a time, usually at home, you don’t really know anything about them. A web design company will have history and it takes time and effort to build a business so you know they are serious about it.

There are some people that would rather hire a freelancer than a web design company because they feel that a web design company is a rip off. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In most cases you get more for your money with a web design company than with a freelancer. There is also the occasional scammer that will take your money for the project and disappear. I’m not one to put down anyone. Freelancers are great and most of them do great work. There are just a few bad apples in the barrel that you need to watch out for. So when you’re choosing who to go with for your educational website, make sure that you choose carefully and wisely.

After talking a little about who would benefit from an educational website we discussed what an educational website is and what would be included in one. There are many different people that use educational websites everyday. There are a lot of things that go into building an educational website. You have to think a lot about the design and how you are wanting the school to be portrayed. Educational websites are usually very plain and without a lot of color. They are also very professional looking, which is good because that is what is expected. When starting to build an educational website you have to be prepared to invest in it.

Although most educational websites are not built by a single person and are usually backed by the whole school there is still an investment to be made. Usually a school has a website already right away when it is first built. A lot of schools have had their websites for a long time and have kept them the same throughout their existence. This is usually the case. Although most of these websites have already been developed there is still room for improvement, especially as we move forward with technology. This is always a good investment for the school to make, updating their website, because it shows students and parents that the school really does care about the information being given out by their institution.

The college has to think about investing in some sort of outside marketing to help show off their school to people looking from outside the state. That means that the website needs to be well put together for those who aren’t able to actually come and physically see the school. So the site has to be designed so that people looking from a distance can really see your school.

I talked a little bit in my last post about how the design of an educational website should not be flashy or have a lot going on. I talked about how it should be kept pretty plain and professional looking. I’ve also mentioned who would benefit from having an educational website dedicated to a school. There are two main people that are going to be looking at an educational website. One being the parents and this is for when the student is too young to think about anything other than what 4×4 is. It’s sixteen. The other is for the students; this is usually and in most cases college websites.

A college website should be geared towards the student rather than the parents. This is because is it is normally the student who looks around at what schools they would like to attend. There should therefore be some good information presented to the student right away. College websites are usually put together a little better than most primary school websites. This is for a couple of reasons. One being that colleges make a lot more money as far as tuition and fees go than other schools. Also because college is a very important time in a students life. It is where you get the degree you’ll be using for the rest of your life. There is a lot of pressure that comes along with college and students want to find the perfect college for them. This is why an educational website on this level is built to impress.

A college’s website should have a layout that is very simple. With the buttons generally across the top of down the left hand side. Pictures help immensely on college websites because students will want and enjoy seeing visuals of a place they will possibly be spending four years of their life. There should also be a lot of information that should be broken up into a couple categories: new students, returning students, etc. These features should be present on every educational website made at the college level.

Many people can benefit from an educational website being built: parents and students both. There are a million things to find out and learn on an educational website. It’s better for everyone if a school has a well-built and organized website that informs parents, students, and whoever else about anything and everything that they could possibly want. There are many different schools across the nation and, equally so, there are many websites out there for them. There is a difference between educational websites and a regularly functioning websites. That difference being that educational/school websites aren’t trying to draw people in with the design of the website.

By this I mean have you ever seen a school’s website look flashy or cool at all? Not usually, and that is fine because there is no reason for it to be all bells and whistles. The site is purely educational and is only used for such. Most people (parents especially) would be concerned if a school’s website was flashy and full of animation. An educational website should be straightforward, informational, and professional. This is why most educational websites you see are very plain and without much color. This is how it should be because it portrays the school in a professional manner and that is exactly how you should look if you’re dealing with people’s kids everyday. Do I think they should all look the same? Probably no, but how different can you make websites from one another when your using the plainest colors and text?

I personally feel that an educational website can be built to look professional but still not look boring. There are some educational websites that throw some color in there or have some images blasting and breaking up all those walls of text. Ka-Plooey! I like it. Without something eye-catching on the pages I really do feel like I’m in school and reading up on this educational website is like homework that I really don’t want to do.

I talked a little bit in general about who would benefit from having an educational website. I also talked about what people would be looking at the website and for what reasons. There are a lot of different people using these types of websites and the benefits of using them are great. In fact, a school really can’t expect to have very good feedback without a website to give all sorts of information. There are a lot of people out there that are looking for information about a school who don’t want to have to go there to get it. This is especially in the case of colleges and if they are in other states or even countries.

Parents can benefit from a school’s website by being able to find out pretty much everything that their child is going to experience when attending school there. These educational websites also give out important information such as fees and tuition for each student. Telephone numbers for pretty much everyone can be found on these sites which gives parents the freedom to be able to call their student’s teacher. This could be for various information like grades and homework information. Another benefit for parents is that these educational websites always provide information about the school in general, which is a great overview for someone just trying to decide between schools.

Students can benefit from an educational website dedicated to their school as well. They benefit from some of the same reasons. Fees and telephone numbers are easily found on these websites and are frequently used by students who are in college. College educational websites can help students with everything from applying to school to registering for classes to deciding what class to take and where the student will be living. I haven’t met a college student yet who has not used the college’s educational website for something. It is a great tool to have available to the many people who are going to have questions.

Educational Web Design is a term that can relate to many things. If you think about it, educational web design could mean any website on the internet because you’re usually looking to learn some information about something. So really, educational web design is a very broad term. When I talk about educational web design I’m referring to something more like a school’s website. This means any type of school going from preschool to college and beyond. Each school should have its own educational website built so that people can look and find all the information they need about the school and what it offers.

There are a lot of different people that use educational websites. Parents wanting to look up information on the teachers or on school fees will definitely find the information they are looking for. These are parents who possible just moved to the area or have a child who is now ready to go to school. It can also be for students wanting to find information. This would more likely be in the case of a college then anything else because they website hold more information geared towards helping the student than informing the parent. There are many reason that parents and students

There are a lot of different schools across the nation and most of them have websites. How well these website look is another story. At the websites I’ve looked at for most high schools there are a lot of features that are annoying or amateur looking. I personally feel that these websites could be designed better but at least these schools have a website. If your school doesn’t have a website, I would be weary to let my children go there. If they don’t even have a website it would be a red flag that a good education may not be present there.

Educational web design has to be one of the more important things that you decide to do on the web. An educational website can be a pretty difficult thing to have developed depending on what you want to do with your educational website. The functions that you will need are going to be directly associated with the type of educational institution you are looking to design an educational website or school website for.

The higher the educational level of the institute will have a positive correlation as to how much functionality you will need. This means that the higher the education level of the institution the more functions you are most likely going to need for your educational or school website. Take a college or university for instance. That type of high education institute will defiantly need more functionality then a school website for a grade school. And it makes a lot of sense if you think about it. A college student is going to have several more needs from there educational institute then a grade school student. More and more universities and colleges are going with internal design for there school website. Seeing how most colleges and universities offer web design programs and computer programs and they will usually have a technical team on staff. Some even use the students to help with the design and update of the school website.

A grade school will most likely not have its own tech team that will work on the school website. It is more likely the grade school’s website will be devolved by the tech team that works for the district. This is not the case with every school. Some districts are larger then others and some have more money or funding then others. It all depends on the location and the scores of the students. A school located in a wealthy area will obviously have more money in the district then one in a middle class or poverty stricken neighborhood. The districts will most likely be the one that decides if it wants to hire a tech team to develop and update the school websites, or if they want to go with a web design company. Again this all depends on the district and if they can afford to hire and pay a tech team.

One thing is for certain, any type of educational institution should have a website that at least gives them a web presence. The world is moving towards being almost entirely reliant on computers and the web, so it is almost a necessity for any type of business or institution to look into web design. If you are considering having a school website or educational website developed give DreamCo Design a call today.

Educational web design can be an umbrella term for a few different types of websites. One of the major types of educational websites falls under a subcategory we’ll call school web design. Now even that term can be broken down into a few different categories. Seeing how there are several different types of schools this makes total sense.

One of the most popular types of school websites are going to be for a grade school or middle school. These school websites have a fairly simple setup. Most will just have a few pages. One page of course will be the home page, the next contact information, and then they might have a recent news page. Mainly the people that are going to be viewing this particular school website are going to be parents and possibly teachers, if the school website is set up with email accounts. Most students will not be going on to their school’s website so it is important to keep that in mind when you are planning out the development of the school website. However schools are changing and the richer school districts might want to look at student and teacher logins for their email accounts and even school work help. This type of school website will be more expensive then the typical school website, but if you have the funding you might as well create the best website you can. The more functionality and information that is available to the students, parents, and faculty the better.

Another type of school that could benefit from a school website would be daycares or preschools. Usually preschools fall under a district and their website might be incorporated into the districts website. But daycares are usually more business like in the way they operate. Daycares are the most popular school websites that are built today. If you are looking to set up a daycare website there are a few things you may want to consider. Seeing how your school is also a business there are a few things that your school website is going to do differently then a typical school website. You are going to have to think about marketing your school website more then a typical school website. You may also have a few more functions then the typical school website. Basically your daycare website is going to have to be setup more like a business website then a school website. But your daycare website would still fall under the school website umbrella.

There are so many different avenues that one can take school web design. Whatever type of educational website you want to have developed DreamCo Design is the expert in all things web design. We can set you up with a great looking school website that won’t break that budget. So give DreamCo Design a call today for all your educational web design or school web design needs.

There are so many different types of schools and they all offer children and adults so many different things. The one thing these schools have in common is that they can all benefit from a school website. Most school websites are just there to give the school an online presence to allow parents to see what that particular school has to offer their child. Others will be used to educate as well as offer those students and faculty several educational related items.

More often then not, the schools that are going to benefit the most from a website that has many functions such as, account login, email accounts, library catalog, online tutoring, and so on. Typically the only schools that would need all those fancy features would be a college or private school. The more functions your school website has the more money it is going to cost. Cost is a major issue with anything. If your school is looking to build a website the district probably has a budget that they are looking to work within. This means that your school needs to be exactly sure of the things you are expecting your school website to do.

Because there are so many things that can be done with school web design and your budget is going to limit a lot of the features you can have. The best course of action before you find a web designer is to develop a project outline. This way you, the district, and the web designer all have an exact idea of what needs to be done. Just take a look at what areas of your school could benefit the most from a school website. Those areas that need a little help should be addressed on your school’s website if it is possible. Obviously one of the most beneficial thing about having a school website is that it can enhance communication between faculty members. Communication is a major issue in any type of establishment. If your school website was set up so every faculty member has an email account it would defiantly make the communication aspect of the school run more efficient.

There are so many more benefits to having an educational website or school website developed. It would be pretty hard to fit them all in to one blog entry. If you are looking for more information give DreamCo Design a call and we can tell you what you need to know.
