So I’ve walked you through having an ecommerce website built. I didn’t give you the exact details or lead you through it step by step because there are so many different variables that can happen or not happen. So it would only be me guessing what would happen in your case. I did, however, give you a general idea of where you should be at each point. What to look for and what to be careful of. Which is better than giving you false information about ecommerce web design. Now that we are at the point where your website has been built and is designed to your liking the next step to consider would be the SEO work that you should have done.

SEO is one of the most important things you can have done on your ecommerce website. SEO stands for search engine optimization, which in short means being able to be found on the internet by a search engine. There are millions of websites on the internet that are trying to be found and they all are competing with each other for the first spots. When you type in a search word at Google or Yahoo there will be a list of sites that pop up and they will be in order of relevancy to your search terms. Of course, you are going to click on the first few results that come up. Switching the sides, as a website you want to be as high on that list as possible so that your website is the one that gets clicked on. This is what search engine optimization is for.

There are companies out there that have teams of people just doing SEO work on their websites. These companies are hard to beat when it comes to looking up broad terms, but as far as more specific terms, this is when you can really compete. A lot of people spend money on SEO work to be done on a continuous loop; you can choose to do this or not. The least amount of work that you should have done is changing your Meta tags, title tags and having good relevant content. If you don’t know how to do this, hiring someone to do it will be worth it. Being found on the internet is how you’re going to get business on your ecommerce website, so it is imperative that you have this work done.

There is a lot that we have covered in my previous posts about ecommerce web design and ecommerce websites. We talked about what exactly ecommerce website are, who has them, what are the benefits that go along with them, and what things you should have ready before going to your chosen web designer. As we go on in the process, there is something that I feel should be said just to make some things clear about ecommerce web design.

Designing an ecommerce website is a huge investment. Ok, so maybe not as big of an investment as a house or car but your still shelling out quite a bit of money for your website. Ecommerce websites cost quite a bit more than just having a regularly functioning website because of all the extra programming and setup it takes to make sure that the transferring of money goes smoothly. I wouldn’t suggest jumping right into having an ecommerce website designed without having some money saved up for it first. Usually ecommerce websites do not cost just small chunks of cash where you can just randomly decide to have one made. Although they are not overly expensive they do cost a substantial amount of money.

There are a lot of things that go into deciding what your ecommerce website is going to cost. This makes it hard to show you a range that ecommerce website usually cost. I’ve seen ecommerce websites that seem to cost a fortune, although when you look at it these websites usually look and perform spectacularly. I’ve also seen fairly inexpensive ecommerce websites that still look great, but are just without all the bells and whistles. The type of ecommerce website you want will greatly determine how much you will need to spend. Although you are looking to spend a bit of money it will all come back to you with sales/memberships, whatever it is that you are selling because having an ecommerce website is one of the best investments that you can make for your business.

When having an ecommerce website made there are a lot of things that go into it. You should make sure to have everything sorted out before you get together with a web design company. Knowing what you want from your ecommerce website is going to help you in the end get a pleasing site. You are the one in control of your website, act like it. There are a few things that you should do/think about before finding a web design company to take on your project.

The first suggestion that I want to make is to have examples of sites you like. This gives the developer a good idea of what you are looking for and the feeling that you want people to get when visiting your site. Now your site may not turn out exactly like the design examples you show and that is good because you want the site to be your own and not a copy of someone else’s. Another quick suggestion I would have for you is to make sure you going with a quality designer. In the world of web design there are a lot of untrustworthy people out there. There are a lot of horror stories out there about people hiring a designer only for them to take the clients money and run. It’s a dangerous area to mess in, which is why a legitimate web design company is going to be your best bet when deciding on whom to go with for your company.

Another suggestion that I would make is that you should always make a list of what you want your website to do; All the functions that are going to be included in your website. You need to make this list for a couple reasons: a.) so you don’t forget anything important. Everything that you say you are going to need included in your website is going to affect the price somehow so making sure you’ve included everything will give you the best way to get the most accurate price. b.) so you know how your website should be functioning when the company tells you they are done with it. This will be the best way for you to check over what they have done. Try to cover yourself in every area possible when getting web design done because is you think about it, web design is not something that you actually have and can touch so it best to be careful.

So far we’ve talked about how having an ecommerce website can be a big benefit to you. By having an ecommerce website you are choosing to expand your business and make it accessible to the world. This is a big decision and a lot of responsibility to take on. Although there is a lot to think about before having an ecommerce website built there is also a lot that goes into the layout and design of the site. You need to think about a few things before making your site live on the internet.

Something that is important to make sure is that your site needs to be well put together and organized. This rings true especially on the main page. There are a lot of people that are going to visit your site and decide if they think the store is reputable enough to shop in the second they see it. Your ecommerce website shouldn’t have pictures scrambled everywhere on the pages. Make it easy for the visitor to navigate through and follow some type of flow of the page. This will always have a calming effect on the person viewing your website.

I’ve seen a lot of ecommerce sites that are really off the wall with the pictures, banners, headers and everything going on in the main page. Most of these sites have been clothing stores but there are a few exceptions. I really think that these sites could be designed more aesthetically pleasing to the eye instead of being so flashy and overpowering. Although, if it is a well known and highly shopped brand I suppose it doesn’t matter what the site looks like at all. This is not something that everyone can get away with though so avoid it if possible.

You, as the owner of the business, have the power to design your ecommerce website any way you want to. This is the beauty of web design; being able to do whatever you want because you can. Just know that if you’re serious about having an ecommerce store on the internet that there are some things that work and others that don’t.

There are a lot of different sites that are considered ecommerce websites. Each of these sites is selling something different for different customers. I talked in my last post about who would be using this type of web design and touched briefly on the benefits of having this type of site. I plan to go into more detail about the benefits of having an ecommerce site in this post. Although it really depends on what you are going to be selling to figure out what your specific benefits would be I can still give a bit of an overview.

By having an ecommerce website you can hope to gain a lot of things. Although getting an ecommerce website does cost a bit more than normal websites, because of all the extra programming that goes into it, it is also a good way to generate money for yourself if you’re selling something. There are a lot of people out there that would rather go online and order something without leaving their home than to go out and drive to the store for it. I love ordering online if it’s something I don’t need right away. It’s convenient and things are usually always in stock. Not so with an actual store; sometimes they run out of things if they turn out to be a popular item. I’d rather not do all that driving just to find out that the item I would like to purchase is out of stock and drive home empty-handed. Having an ecommerce website on the internet will also help you expand your business.

If you think about it, once your business is big enough then it really is a necessity to have an ecommerce website. This way you can sell to more people across the nation instead of just having one location somewhere in the boondocks. This in turn would bring you more revenue as a business. It’s almost like having two businesses open at once. One physical where you can have customers come in and physically see the products and one not, where customers can purchase on their own time without coming in.

You may hear the word ecommerce being used when looking on the internet for web design. Looking at this word and not understanding what it means is something that happens to a multitude of people. It’s not a word to be scared of and the meaning of the word in relation to a website is actually very simple. An ecommerce website is one where money is being transferred. There are millions of ecommerce websites out there. Most likely, you have used one before. Have you ever put your credit card number into an online form in order to purchase an item you wanted? Then you’ve visited an ecommerce website. That’s really the quick and short answer for what an ecommerce website is all about. Developing and caring for an ecommerce website is something that will require a little more explaining though.

If you have a product that you want to get out there on the internet for people to have the convenience to buy in their own home then you will need to set up an ecommerce website. This will help you in a number of ways. It helps bring in money, customers, and PR for your company. The fact that there are millions of websites out there selling things is a bit of a hindrance to you, but competition will be a motivation for you to succeed. As your business expands, so will your ecommerce website. There will most likely have to be adjustments made to your ecommerce website to make things run smoother for you or for your customers.

The other type of website that would be set up as an ecommerce would be any website that has you paying for memberships of any kind online. These are all your dating websites and adult websites and things like that. These websites are a little easier to manage because you don’t have to manufacture a product or make sure that the product gets sent out. It’s a little more simplistic in that area but it is more customer service based. You need to be sure that your website works and is providing what it says it will.
What most people do not realize about ecommerce web design and really any type of business is that their success is attributed to their doing. But conversely their failure is directly due to their doing as well. That might be a little hard to believe but really think about it. Does it hold some truth? Of course it does. The thing about being human is that we like to believe that our success is because of our hard work and nothing else. On the other hand our failure is due to other external issues. No way could it our fault, right? Well unfortunately in most cases it is. This little tidbit of psychology is known as the self serving bias. We see it all over the world every day. We have just learned to ignore it.

The self serving bias is one of those things that can be typically stops once people are aware that it exists. Just like if you won the lottery you might say to your self that you deserve it for all the hardships you have endured. But if someone else wins you might say that that person is just lucky and they really don’t deserve that money. Good thing your ecommerce website is not going to be one of those things. Now that you know about the self serving bias we can all blame ourselves for our failures and you can blame yourself if your ecommerce website fails.

How do you avoid this failure you might be asking? Well that is simple; take care of your ecommerce website. Make sure you are keeping the information and pictures up to date. Make sure you are not showing available inventory for a product that you simply do not have anymore of. Make sure the pictures of your products look fantastic, even consider hiring a professional photographer. And above all else treat your ecommerce website like an investment needs to be treated. If your have a website that is a few years old get the site updated. The web changes every day and if your ecommerce website is behind the times your business will suffer. Sure all these things cost money. But what did you expect? Never assume you can make a fortune from nothing. As the old saying goes “it takes money to make money”.

The whole point of great ecommerce web design is not to just throw together a simple website that sells your products. The main point of great ecommerce web design is to make your online as impressive if not more impressive then an actual physical store. Then you can say to yourself you have a great looking ecommerce website that brings the customers pouring through the doors of your website.

The whole point of great ecommerce web design and any type of web design is to be sure you portray yourself as being professional as possible. This way people take your business seriously and they will feel more comfortable handing over their money to you. Ecommerce web design can not be done in a half assed way either. There are certain things that you just need to do and spend the money on to make sure things are set up right. The key element here is that you are your business. If you are not giving your ecommerce website the best possible attention then you might as well drop out of the race now. You are really just shooting your self in the foot.

No body wants to set up their ecommerce website to fail. In fact nobody in their right mind wants to fail at anything. Why would you? It would be a total waste of money for you and a huge waste of time. Failure is not something that is done on purpose, it is achieved unintentionally. That statement probably correlates to ecommerce web design more then any other type of web design.

The look and feel of your ecommerce website will probably be the most important thing to your investment in ecommerce web design. There are a lot of web designers out their and they all have different methods and standards. Lucky for you it is really easy to spot the losers of webs design.

There are so many web design companies and freelance web designers out there it would make your head spin to seek out and review everyone. The best thing you can do is to start with writing down what you want and what design aspects you are looking for. This will make it easier for you when looking for a web designer. This way you can show them exactly what you want and if they can do it for the price you are looking for. Keeping everything about your ecommerce website written down and organized will be a god send later on in the development process. Unfortunately next to writing the check to the web designer it is probably the least enjoyable part of the web design process.

All that work will pay off. This way you know exactly what your ecommerce website will look and function. It will also speed up the web design process as well. The main reason why websites are stalled or they get stuck at a certain development point is because the client is not sure or is extremely hesitant about the next step. This is really the first step to failure as well. Nothing is more detrimental to your business then not knowing what to do next. Always have a game plan, and a back up plan. This way there is no stalling just forward progress.

You’re not going to believe just how fast your ecommerce website is going to be built and launched if you are on the ball with everything that is going on. The ecommerce web design process will be a lot easier on you and even more so for your web designer. DreamCo Design has the tools, solutions, and support you could ever need when considering ecommerce web design. Stuck on an idea and not quite sure how to work it out?

As unfortunate as it may seem, your ecommerce website will be judged based on its looks. People are superficial beings and that means that they are constantly judging the look and feel of your ecommerce website. It is just the way of things work with ecommerce webs design, and everything else.

Your ecommerce website is going to be your store front. If you entered a store what is the fist thing that you notice? What kinds of things would turn you away from a store? If the store was cluttered or unorganized would you still shop there? How about if the employees were rude or ignored you? What if the boxes for all the products you wanted to purchase looked plain and boring, would you still consider purchasing them? Sincerely look at all the above questions and think of others that might come up. If you do not think that your customers will be thinking the same things, you might want to get out of the business now.

Your customers are going to be judging the way your website looks, feels, and operates. So it is dire that you get these aspects of your website tweaked to perfection. The life of your business might be depending on it. Your customers are the life of your success. With out them you have nothing. The simple fact that you are starting a business or own a business means you understand just how important customers are. You know what kinds of things they are looking for and just how important it is to make the shopping experience enjoyable. But is that same feeling transferable to a website? The answer is yes, if the ecommerce web design was done right.

DreamCo Design has those solutions and tools that you are seeking out while considering ecommerce web design. All we need is a call from you to set up a free quote. Ecommerce web design is probably the smartest use of the internet out there. So take advantage of all the great benefits the web has to offer your auto business.
