This weekend had to be one of the most glorious times since last year. I failed to realize how terrible winter really is in comparison to the freedom and beauty that spring and summer have. There are so many people that enjoy the snow (which is fine! I like snow too) but I’d much rather give up seeing snow at all in order to be able to go outside without a coat on and the sun shining down warming my body. What a great way to get a boost in mood. I’ve already seen changes in the personalities of those around me; people get happier when they see the sun out and it isn’t gloomy looking outside.

I’m hoping that this weather stays nice and that there is no stop to the ever increasing temperature. Just a little bit warmer and I’ll be golden. I love that time when spring is turning into summer, the temperature is just right and it hasn’t become too hot or humid yet. The trees are still dead and dreary looking but soon enough their leaves will come out and everything will look alive. Can you tell how excited I am? Living in the Chicago area my whole life you would think that the coming and going of winter would be something that one would get used to. After twenty one years and some change I still have not become totally unaware of the changes; I hope that I won’t ever become fully immune.

There is no doubt about it, Spring is coming! I could do a little dance but it doesn’t transfer well over the computer. (*dances*) Well… that will do.

I find it frustrating that some people choose the judge our completed websites based upon the fact that they think the design and layout looks “cookie-cutter”. Any well informed person would realize that our sites are made based upon what the client wants. If this means that the client has no imagination and wants a pretty generic website then that is what we’ll give them. If they wanted a totally bitchin’ website design that was built from the ground up, well we can do that too. We can do anything that a client wants from us. I’ve recently started working off Craig’s List to get leads and do some networking and you’d be surprised the responses I get. “Your website designs look cookie cutter and generic.” “Maybe if I were a hardware store, I’d choose you.” These people act like they know what they are talking about, when in fact they don’t. If they did know, they wouldn’t be asking someone else to do the work for them. Would they? I feel insulted by these types of people with massive ego’s because by telling us these comments they feel better about themselves.

I’ve looked at a lot of our web designs on the site and I feel like they are all over the board as far as web design. I think we’ve done a great job on all the websites we’ve taken part in. Even the one’s that I feel look generic because I’m not judging them on what the customer wanted with their web design. I’m looking at how it was put together, the functionality, and how good the individual designs are. This is how you look at a website to judge it’s design. People are so nearsighted that they take one quick look and automatically turn up their noses.

I feel like people are too quick to judge and be negative towards us before they even try to realize our potential. Trying to talk to these people is like trying to talk to a brick wall. They aren’t listening at all and they won’t budge.Typical. Although with any business comes rejection before you can build your way up to the top. This is the way of it and there is nothing to change it. I hope to someone sees this blog who was a total dink and sees that they acting like one. Maybe then they would see that just because they are they one’s hiring for the job it doesn’t make them superior in any way because in the end, they are the ones asking for help. They are the ones who aren’t capable. I don’t mean to offend anyone who is needing help for web design. Just the ones that need to be brought down a notch. I suppose some positive advice for these types of people would be: He who is humble is confident and wise. He who brags is insecure and lacking. Looking to learn about web design?

I just read something on the Internet yesterday about website marketing and linking and how the way most websites have it set up now is a bad way to go about things. I don’t know what to think about it. I’ll tell you what I read first. Basically, the way websites go around and exchange links with other websites is fine and good but putting the links into a big directory that goes: name - link, name - link, etc. is an unprofessional and silly way to do things. The reasons that I read were justified. The biggest of them being that search engines are changing around how they count links and what they consider to be an actual solid link. The more content behind a link the better. I can understand that. Also that there are so many automated link farmers out there that website marketing or link exchanging has gotten to be kind of ridiculous. This was a lot to chew on for me.

I’m on the fence about doing content filled links for a couple reasons. I like the idea about it because it would force actual people to write content for the people their exchanging links for. That way automated systems and stuff like that aren’t getting all these links without doing anything. It would be good to stop that. One the other hand, writing content for each link that comes in or that I want to connect to me would be time

consuming beyond belief! With all that writing I would have to have four computers and eight hands to type on them all. I feel like content links would not really be a benefit to smaller companies who don’t have the manpower to crank out all this content for links. Therefore, the big guys win again, who would probably have link content writer up the wahzoo. I also think that for link purposes no one is going to want to read the content anyways. You can write anything you want because in the end, who really looks at the links page? No one but people looking to exchange links, that’s why the way to get to the links is sometimes hidden so well even Sherlock Holmes couldn’t find it.

So the real question is; is it worth it to have everyone write content for their links? Wouldn’t it just end up being the same way it is now, just taking up more space for all that content? I think so, because there would be people writing content for the larger companies like no other and they would end up being on top either way. Nothing changes and it never will. You can try to optimize the system as much as you want but there will always be people figuring out a way to get around the walls and bend the rules. It’s society.

In the end I can’t make up my mind about this topic. I suppose that’s why the rules for website marketing and link exchanging haven’t changed. I think there’s a lot of people up here on this fence with me.

I was just trying to look on the internet for some tips about video game web design. You probably find it hard to believe but there really was almost nothing out there that was helpful! Everything that I saw was for gaming website templates or actual video game design. I mean, I went through the first ten to fifteen pages and found maybe 4 things about gaming web design tips, and two of those web addresses were for DreamCo Design and this blog! Hilarious. It’s ok though because now I know that whenver someone looks up gaming web design tips or gaming web design, they’ll probably end up here looking at our website or my post, because there is nothing better out there on the internet. At least, not in the first few pages. I end up getting bored looking through more than a couple pages. And anyways, isn’t the most relevant stuff suppose to be at the beginning? So it really is worthless to go any farther than ten pages because if nothing your looking at now is helping, the stuff in the back isn’t going to either. It’s not like it’s hiding or something.

Seeing as how there is so little out there on the internet directly about tips on video game web design or gaming web design, I now realize why so many gaming websites are either amatuer looking or not completed or not even started! Is it possible that no one really knows much about it? No, that can’t be. It must be information that people don’t want to share. They must be hiding it in a small chest in the middle of the Earth. The key is in the hands of some sort of super mutant. Another possible explination is this wealth of information hidden away in someone’s crawl space. One of those people who don’t ever throw anything away. Knowing this, it’s probably shoved all the way to the back with spiders nesting all over it.

We’ll I guess since it looks like I’m going to be your leading expert on video game web design. I’d better do a good job.

I just bought a new computer the other week. I bought it because my old one didn’t have a good enough processor or graphics card to play most PC games out there today. I must say that I am very pleased with my purchase. The computer has been great so far for everything I need it for, and will need it for. I actually bought this computer so that I wouldn’t miss playing a game that is coming out this next year. What game could make me twitch with anticipation? Fallout III of course! I am an avid Fallout fan. My dad introduced me to the game a long time ago and I’ve played it ever since. I even re-bought the games last year because my CD’s were getting really messed up.

Sitting on my bed a few months ago I was shocked when the Game Informer came in the mail and on the cover was a closeup of someone in Power Armor! Initially I thought that they weren’t going to create a third Fallout because Interplay disappeared and Fallout fans were going to be really picky about who made the next epic adventure to their favorite post-apocalyptic game. Bethesda decided to take up the challenge. Skeptical at first about it, I still couldn’t help but be excited at the thought of it. Flipping to the pages for Fallout I was amazed. The game looks nothing like the other two. The graphics and game-play are way more advanced. I expected as much. Bethesda are the same people who made Oblivion, and everyone is impressed with that game.

The storyline begins in Vault 101, where your father has left the vault without reason, and you end up going out to look for him. Fallout III is scheduled for release in the fall of this next year. A long way to go for waiting fans. Of all the pictures I’ve seen I feel that it is going to be a great game. Although it isn’t exactly like the older two it definitely grabs my attention enough. They’ve implemented a new targeting system called V.A.T.S. or Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. IT allows you to stop time in combat and target specific areas on your target. I’ve also heard that there are a possible twelve different endings. Which only means that I will have to play it twelve times to see them all. I can’t wait. Want to learn about types of web design?

Web design is probably one of the most underrated but most sought after industries around. Every business wants a website to promote their company, but a lot do not want to pay for it. Great web design comes at a cost people! Any decent web designer will tell you that.

You see the posts on job boards all over the web. Everyone is looking for cheap to free web design. It really makes no sense if you think about it. Great web design is going to cost money, depending on the project at hand most web designers make at the very least $30 to $40 per hour. So why is it that people are offering web design jobs that pay $8 to $12 per hour? Could those people that posted that job live off of that much money? Probably not, so how do they expect others to live off peanuts? Could it be that most people do not understand what good web design involves? Is the world really that ignorant?

For those of you that do not see anything wrong with paying $12 an hour for web design, really think about it for a second. Can you do quality web design? Sure anyone can get the program and fill in a template, but even that will cost you $300 to $400, and then you still have to add in all your own stuff. Now you tell me that that website looks good. You can’t. You just don’t offer $12 an hour to those that can do something you could never do in your dreams. You pay your mechanic whatever price they quote you, right? Why is that? Is it because you do not fully understand the way your car works? Well do you fully understand how web design works? If you are reading this probably not. So why in the hell would you tell a web designer what you are going to pay them? They tell you what it is going to cost to get your project going.

Not everyone is that ignorant. In fact I feel that most people are smart enough to realize that good web design costs money. That is why we get phone calls looking for web design quotes. We love that, it means the world is making progress. DreamCo Design is a firm believer in the phrase “you get what you pay for”. If you pay peanuts expecting great web design you are in for a big surprise. If you pay good money you will also be surprised, not in a bad way like the other guy.

Well the day that millions of gamers have been waiting for has finally arrived. That is right Halo 3 was released today, actually last night at midnight. Fan boys have been chomping at the bit for this game ever since the Halo 2’s 2004 release. Since then there have been websites that have popped up with rumors and screen shots of the third Halo game.

The first world wide glimpse of the game happened during a commercial break on a Monday Night Football game last season. I remember this well because my two brothers who have seen the trailer online days before freaked out when the saw it on the big screen. Since then it has been all they talk about. They have actually been training for Halo 3 by playing the first two games front to back and studying the differences that they read will change in the third game.

If you’re a fan of the Halo series you most likely stood outside of your local game store or big box retailer, with your pre order receipt in your hand, foaming at the mouth at the thought of playing this titan of video games. Some people I know even took the day off work and school to play the game today. I know one guy who took his vacation this week so he can play Halo 3. The buzz on the web has gotten everyone into such a huge frenzy about this game that it is going to hard to ignore. And now with rumors and leaked trailers for a Halo movie you can ensure a fourth game. There is too much money to be made to end the game after three installments.

All I have to say is get a life. It is just a video game. My two brothers have not shut up about this game since that Monday Night Football game. Usually I would be glad that they finally spend time together, but all they do is argue about who is playing what and why so and so is a screen peeker. It got to the point that my brother barrowed an old X Box set it up across the hall in my sister’s room so the two of them could both play without calling each other cheaters. My one brother has put on about 25 pounds since we even got X Box live last year. All he cares about is playing that damn game and his interest in herbal medications. My other brother has always been fat and lazy but even more so now. And seeing how Halo 3 is now out, and both of my brothers waited outside Game Stop last night to get it, there does not seem to be an end.

What is wrong with people? It is just a game, sure it’s cool and I enjoy playing every once in a while but it is not a way of life. I have a job and go to school, I could not imagine taking the week off or even the day off to play a video game. What is everyone so worried about? The game will be out until the end of time. You are not missing anything except your life. It is great to have a hobby, but a hobby is a healthy activity that helps pass time. This Halo thing has become an obsession. It is not just Halo either. World of War Craft is just as bad, in fact any MMO’s are pretty bad. I have lost over three friends to WOW and two brothers to Halo.

I am studying to be a psychologist and the behavior I have noticed in my friends and brothers is the exact behavior that is displayed in drug addicts. Who would rather play WOW on a Saturday night then go to the bar and pick up some girls? Or play Halo instead of playing pool with your older brother? I remember a time when games were just something to do to pass the time, now people are dedicating their life to them. And for what? There is not end to Halo multiplayer, or WOW. You get nothing out of it except a higher ranking. But is that going to do anything for you? Who cares if you have a level 70 Hunter or you have a 35 ranking? It is not going to get you girls, at least not any girls I would want to see. You have to understand that this is an addiction. I know a married couple that almost got a divorce over WOW! That’s right a divorce over a video game. They both decided to quit playing in order to save their marriage. They saw that they had a problem and removed themselves from it.

For the sake of your body and mental health, log off the computer, put down the controller and look at your life. What would the four year old you say about the person you turned out to be. I don’t think they would like it at all. You wanted to be a doctor or a firefighter, not a lazy unemployed loser who lives with their folks at 25 years old. I totally understand the excitement over a new game coming out. I myself am looking forward to Metal Gear 4. But I won’t be staying home from work to play it. That’s what the weekend is for.

What is considered to be an art? There are a lot of people that argue what art is just the same way people argue that pool, bowling, cheerleading are sports. They are not by the way. But honestly what is considered to be art today? Everyone pretty much thinks painting, sculpting, music, film, and photography are well established art forms. How about graphic design, or web design? Do we consider these to be jobs or art forms?

If you think about what arts essential elements are you can’t easily decipher what is art and what is not. Of course there is not a really clear cut check list that one can go through to make the determination that what they are creating is art. According to dictionary.com art is “the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.” So we have a pretty vague definition of what is to be considered art. Something that is beautiful, well what is considered beautiful differs from person to person. It works the same for being appealing and quality. And what about aesthetic principals? Aesthetics examines what makes something beautiful, sublime, disgusting, fun, cute, silly, entertaining, pretentious, discordant, harmonious, boring, humorous, or tragic according to Wikipedia.

So every one of the above adjectives all have to do with matters of opinion. Could it really be that simple, that what is to be considered art is a matter of opinion? It all really it makes sense, we all do not like the same movies. We all have varying tastes in music. So if you think about the above you can see where graphic design and web design can be considered art forms.

Not every website that is designed is going to be considered a masterpiece. In fact there is probably very few websites out there that would be considered a masterpiece. Website design and graphic design are newer, exciting forms of art. One day websites will be looked over in museums just the same as sculptors or paintings. You will be saying at a dinner party some where that so and so designed my landscaping or real estate website. And everyone around you will be very impressed. Maybe one day it will be the equivalent of having a Picasso hanging in your home. Okay maybe not that far but you get the idea.

Web design and graphic design are art forms plain and simple. Not everyone can play the violin. Not everyone can take a good picture (not those crappy MySpace artsy pics people take of themselves in the bathroom mirror). And not everyone can design a great website or beautiful logo. So all in all it is almost impossible to have a cut and dry checklist to determine if something is to be considered an art form. There are just so many differing opinions out there that it is best just to leave it up to the public.

DreamCo Design understands that web design and graphic design are the new wave in art forms. In fact we considered all of our web designers and graphic designers, web artist or graphic artist. It makes them feel more important, and that’s what DreamCo Design is here to do, stroke our developer’s egos. Not really but we like them to know their skills are appreciated. We honestly have one of the best team of web and graphic artists around. Give DreamCo Design a call today for all your web design and graphic design needs, and see for yourself.

The initial conception of a website can be a really easy task or an incredibly difficult one, to take on. There are several things that you have to decipher before going out and spending the money to have one constructed. Being without a website for your business can not guarantee failure, however it may cause a few hardships for you. It is almost dire in today’s world to have a web presence.

If you consider the cost of establishing a well designed website for your business you may come up with a number that seems quite outrageous. You may be thinking that there is no possible way you could ever afford to have a website designed for your business. This is not the case in every situation dealing with web design. Yes, some websites can cost a lot of money. It all depends on the business and how large they want their website and what they expect it to do for them. Some websites are small with only a few pages, some are giant with several hundred pages.

You can not ever really give a ball park figure for web design. Most people expect you to give them an estimate right off the bat. They say “I want to build a site like this one”. We say “okay, what are you looking to do, exactly”. They reply “make a site like this one”. Well after about ten minutes you finally get the information from the customer; that the website they are looking to design has almost nothing to do with the website they want it to look like. And that’s okay. Some people choose things for looks, others for functionality. We do not expect everyone to know what we know. If that were the case why would you be calling us to build your website?

Basically it all comes down to the mind set of the customer. Sometimes customers feel like they might be roped into something if they tell the web designer what they are looking to do. It is a lot easier for them to point out a current website and ask how much? But we want to assure you that it is okay to ask and let us give you a quote for the project you had in mind. There is no red tape unless you want there to be. For instance someone has an idea for the next big web craze, and they do not feel comfortable sharing with a complete stranger. That’s alright; just have your lawyer whip up some papers and we can get started. We are not in the business of pushing customers into something they do not want. We are here solely to ensure you get the best experience possible while having a website designed.

DreamCo Design has all the tools and knows how to put together a great website for you with out breaking the bank. We have the most talented team of designers out there and the best customer service in the industry. Don’t believe us? Give the rest a call and see what they can do for you. We are positive you will come back to us. DreamCo design has all your web design needs in one place. Give us a call today or check us out at DreamCo Design - Web Design for more information about web design.
