Wedding/ Event Web Design: The Doom of Web Design

January 31, 2008 2:31 pm

There are a lot of different web designers out there. You can find them anywhere you go because web design has become such a lucrative business. There are less web design companies out there than there are freelancers. The difference between a freelancer and a web design company is that a freelancer doesn’t work under any company. They do their work by themselves and aren’t necessarily governed by any rules. A web design company has been registered and has to follow certain guidelines. It is usually a team of people all working together to keep the business going.

When deciding to choose a web designer/developer to build your wedding/event website you should choose carefully. The world of web design is a really screwy place because people don’t really have a lot of knowledge about it. There are a few things that you can do to help with your decision. One thing would be to get everything in writing. Although you will most likely not ever be required to sign a contract with a web designer, especially a freelancer, you can still have piece of mind. This way it is clear to you and your web designer what you’re expecting and what needs to be done on your wedding/event website.

Another idea would be to not pay for everything up front. Although a lot of designers will ask you to pay at least a deposit up front, none should ask for it all. This is a warning sign and you should think twice about why they would want all your money up front like that. There are plenty of scammers out there that will have you pay them and disappear. This is another benefit to hiring a web design company, because they are situated in one area and are grounded. There are a lot of monsters out there in the world of web design; be careful with who you choose. For more information on event web design check us out at DreamCo Design - Event Web Design. Charity Web Design: Rollercoaster of Love

January 30, 2008 9:34 am

Having a charity website means nothing if no one knows that you even exist. The answer to this problem is to have SEO work done on your charity website. There are a lot of websites out there dedicated to a whole slew of different causes. There is most likely quite a few charities already made that fight for the same cause that yours does. With this in mind I would think that it is important that if someone is searching for a charity to donate to that yours comes up as one of the first.

There are a lot of things that are done to help your charity website become noticed. Usually a good start for SEO work is to change the title tags and Meta tags so that they reflect your keywords. These are the words that your charity is associated with and will be found under when people use a search engine. There are other things that go into search engine optimization, one important factor is the content found on your website. Everything that is written is taken into consideration to whether or not your charity website is relevant to those key words that you chose. So make sure when writing your content for the website that you keep SEO in mind.

There are many other things that go into search engine optimization. In fact, there are tons of things that could be done to improve your rankings with the search engines. Most of these things need to be done on a regular basis though and there-in lies the problem. You need to have someone working on SEO for your website on a continuous basis to make sure that your charity website keeps going up. Most people who have websites built get SEO done on their site but as soon as their site is done, that’s all she wrote. This works for a while but in order to make sure that your charity website continues to climb. For more information on educational web design check us out at DreamCo Design - Charity Web Design. Educational Web Design: Search Engine Optimization

8:45 am

As you go about having an educational website built there is something that you should keep in mind. Who is going to do the SEO work? SEO stands for search engine optimization, which basically refers to a websites ability to be found by major search engines. This is one of the most important aspects that you need to discuss with your web design company. Ask them if they offer it and what the pricing is for it. No matter what, you need to have SEO work done on your educational website so that you can be seen. Although educational websites run a little differently and they are not out there to make any money it is still important that you are found when someone is searching for you.

A college’s website would be a different story though. If you think about someone searching for a college located in North Carolina, they might enter the key words, “Colleges in North Carolina”. This is where, with the proper SEO techniques, your educational website should appear at least in the first couple pages if you have good SEO work. Although it is very difficult to promise anyone that they will be on the first page of results it is generally an achievement if your website can be found there. When searching with more specific terms, your website should come up right away. For example, using the name of your school should bring you up as most likely the first result on a search engine.

Without SEO you’re bound to almost never be found. You won’t even come up on search engine results and there will be frustration and panic that ensues. Although you may think that you can get away without having SEO work done on your educational website; this is false and you really can’t go without it. So keep in mind when your having your educational website built that you ask about search engine optimization and what it can do for your site. Educational Web Design: Looking for a Company

8:14 am

We’ve talked a lot about educational web design and how it benefits many different people. We also mentioned how a lot goes into designing an educational website even though it doesn’t look glamorous or flashy. Most educational websites look very plain yet very professional. There is a large part of educational web design that I haven’t covered yet and that is, who is going to do it? This is a very important question because it should involve a certain level of trust with the web designer you choose. This is because they have complete control over what they do to your website and there are a lot of dangers out there in the world of web design.

As you are looking for a web designer to redo or even first build your educational website there are some things that you should know. The first thing that you should be aware of is that if you choose to be cheap you’re going to get low quality results. There are some people out there that will do a job for you at a very low cost and the ending result is amateur looking and may not function correctly. You can’t really blame the web designer/developer that you chose because you get what you pay for. The second thing that you should think about is whether to choose a freelancer to do your work or a web design company. There are some major differences with these two options. One of the differences is that with a web design company there comes a level of professionalism and trust that you may not feel with a freelancer. Because a freelancer is just one person working on (most likely) multiple jobs at a time, usually at home, you don’t really know anything about them. A web design company will have history and it takes time and effort to build a business so you know they are serious about it.

There are some people that would rather hire a freelancer than a web design company because they feel that a web design company is a rip off. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In most cases you get more for your money with a web design company than with a freelancer. There is also the occasional scammer that will take your money for the project and disappear. I’m not one to put down anyone. Freelancers are great and most of them do great work. There are just a few bad apples in the barrel that you need to watch out for. So when you’re choosing who to go with for your educational website, make sure that you choose carefully and wisely.
