The Digital Wave.

August 31, 2007 9:38 am

In the past few years there has been an unbelievable amount of technological improvements in the photography industry. The most recent has been the rise of the digital media. Digital photography has exploded on to the scene with the lower prices of digital cameras and photography software. It is now easier than ever to take the pictures you have taken and transfer them to any device capable of displaying that image.

Film has been dying for some time now. It is taking it’s time to leave and it may never fully disappear, but it will certainly be a rare thing to see in the future. A lot of the major companies have stopped carrying professional grade film and chemicals to develop that film. It will not be long before we see it disappearing from the eyes of the consumer as well. This is sort of unfortunate because there was so much raw emotion that came with film. Once you took the picture that was it. You had no idea what it looked liked or how it turned out. And if you screwed up developing the negative you were done.  There was no Photoshop that you could use to adjust the lighting and what not, unless you had one great scanner.

Since it has become so easy to transfer, edit and print photos, the industry has been suffering a little. More and more people are able to take professional quality photographs without the professional photographer.  This makes the market even more competitive than it was before. With fewer customers those that still remain become rare. The photography industry is still huge; there is always a growing need for corporate photography. So really the rise of digital photography has only hurt the freelancers. Most freelancers have their full time job and the freelance part comes in as a source of extra income.

Now that it is easier to take these pictures, you get every little highschooler with a $200.00 digital camera from Target thinking they are artist and putting all their artsy pictures on MySpace. This is not really y a bad thing, it is good that people have an interest in the arts. But that’s what most do not understand is that digital photography is an art just as much as painting or sculpting. You still need a professional to get the most out of the event you are trying to capture for memories later.

DreamCo Design has several options available to the professional and causal photographer. Check out what else we can do for all your photography web design needs by clicking DreamCo Design - Photography Web Design.

What is considered Art?

9:38 am

How hard can it be to take a picture and print it up, design a website and launch it on the web, or design graphics for a movie poster? These things are all done by computers now and the human hand just tells the mouse or camera what to do. It is not an art in any sense of the term; it is not like you are painting a masterpiece.

Unfortunately this is the way a lot of customers think. Most people have a very limited scope on what is to be considered an art of a craft. Most will think that art is painting or drawing, they do not even consider film or photography art. And then again they see graphic design and web design as a job that anyone with some training can do in a few days. These people are not dumb or slow; they just have a skewed view of your industry and do not understand all the things that are involved.

I have talked to many people that think photography is just pointing a camera and clicking the button. I have heard people that think putting together a website is just cutting and pasting pictures and text on a blank page. Most people just do not grasp that in photography there are hundreds of variables that the photographer has to take into account while snapping that shot. Things like lighting, shutter speed, the speed of the object they are shooting, just to name a few. People just don’t get that in web design, there is a whole hidden language that they do not see on the actual web page that makes those little pictures or buttons move or direct you to another page. You have to write the directions for those kinds of things so the computer knows what to do when you click on that spot.

If you are a photographer, web designer, graphic designer, or any other media based job we feel for you. Saying your craft is underappreciated is an understatement. You all see the post on job boards saying things like “I need a photographer to take pictures at my daughters graduation party, I can’t pay you but you can use the photos for your portfolio”, or “I need a shopping cart added to my small business website, I don’t have a lot of money because I am a small business, I will pay you ten dollars an hour and might need you for future work”. Or the best “I am in need of a graphic designer with Photoshop skills that can jazz up my modeling photos, no payment but you can use them for your portfolio”.

Well we can use these things for our portfolio instead of getting paid. Great, the job of my dreams! Honestly though, we have all seen those ads on job boards and every time we see them it makes our hearts sink. Keep in mind that it is not their fault. These people just don’t understand how difficult and time consuming it is to do these things. Photography is an art and so is graphic and web design. These are seen as jobs by the general public and who could blame them?

Most people were brought up thinking that art is painting and sculpting, and they are right. In the traditional sense of art, those are the two main media types that one would first think of for art. So to all you web designers, graphic designers, photographers and any other form of media I have left out you are considered artist by those who know what you craft entails. Do not be bitter or mean to those that do not understand, just take the time to inform them of what you actually do.

How is keeping your photographs in that studio or portfolio getting you the exposure you want? Those photos won’t be doing anything for you if they are locked away from the eyes of the world. One of the best ways to get your art out into the world is to put it out for the world to see.

Do yourself and your business a favor and get a photographer website designed. It will be your online portfolio that can be viewed by any one for any purpose. Your business will expand and so will your wallet or pocket book. Instead of applying for a job with your huge portfolio book and resume, hand them a business card with your web address on it. There are a number of things that your photographer website can do for you and your business. Give it a chance and see the possibilities.

One of the more important things your photographer website will do for you is establish you as an actual artist. Your craft is an art and it would be a shame to keep your talents hidden from those who could truly fall in love with it. As a photographer you remember that exact moment you told yourself that photography was the way to go. You may have always had an interest in art but like all artist we never forget that moment you saw that painting, sculptor, picture, movie, or website that sank to the bottom of your gut and made you gasp. At that moment you knew this was your calling. Do not hide your art from the world. What if your that artist that puts that fire of inspiration in that little girl or boy to pick up the camera. Expose your gift to the world you never know who or what it could inspire.

A photographer website is your portfolio that the world will see. So it is important that it is done absolutely right. Do not trust your art to anyone, make sure they have the same vision for our photographer website that you do. There is nothing worse then paying a lot of money for your vision and finding it anything less then what you expected. Make sure the web designer you choose allows free revision periods so you can have them make any changes that you feel your photographer website requires.

Exposing your art to the world can be a scary thing. You never know quite how people will interpret your vision. Allow us to take a little of that fear away. Here at DreamCo Design we can pull all the thoughts you have about your photographer website and bring them to reality. We can give you a professional looking photographer website for the best price out there guaranteed. We also allow two free revision periods to make sure we bring your vision to life. Your happiness is our mission. We are dedicated to our customers and their visions. So give DreamCo Design a call today and see how we can bring your vision to life. Portraying that professional image through your website.

9:53 am

Looking to have a new website designed for your new business or profession? Then you probably have to work within a budget and still get your site up. But just because you have a budget does not mean that you have to have a flat looking website that makes others question just how professional you are.

When you have a business, portraying that professional image is of the utmost importance. This says to all your customers and the rest of the world that you take your business seriously and you can be trusted with your client’s money or information. One of the most important things you will need is a website that assists in portraying that professional image. Just take a look around the web and see just how flat and unattractive some of the websites are. What type of site would you rather have, that flat looking one that came out of a do it yourself box? Or would you rather have one that looks like those sites you see for those multi million dollar companies? You know that you would rather have the nicer looking website; just as you would like the nicer looking car, house or office.

You have to be wary of those web design companies that promise you the world and only deliver a jar of dirt. Some companies will just toss your information and pictures on to a cookie cutter template and within a few hours you will have your website done. But there is only one problem, every other person in that industry has the same exact website. How boring is that? Let’s say you are looking for an interior decorator online and every single website you come across is a clone of the other. Are you going to choose that decorator that can’t even have an original website developed? Of course not, so why would anyone else choose that person on a website that looks the same.

You want to make sure you get a custom website that says to your customers or clients that you can be trusted and you know how what it takes to survive. Sounds a tad superficial right? Well unfortunately as humans we base a lot of our opinions on the way things look. It is something that is never going to change so we might as well get used to it. People want the best product or service that their money can buy. It has been that way ever since the beginning of the barter system. And you can have the best looking website for the best price.

Just because you want to have a website that looks like those from those million dollar companies, does not meant that the site is going to cost you a million dollars. Give DreamCo Design a call and see how we can help you portray that professional image with a site that rivals those of multi millionaires. Did we mention that we offer a price match guarantee? That’s right, if you find any other company that is going to give you a better deal we will match it then beat it by 10%! How can you go wrong? For more information check us out at DreamCo Design.

Bringing you to the top.

With all the different law firms scratching for the same clients it would be hard to distinguish the best one from the bunch. Most people who would search for lawyers or law firms online would of course use the search engines. Most of these people would only look through to the second page of results. So you have to be sure you can be as close to the top of that search engine list as possible.

There is a term being kicked around the web today called search engine optimization, or SEO for short. This is basically the process of getting your website to be as close to the top of that search results page as possible. There are a few different ways a website can do this.

For lawyer web design you have to consider the types of words people are going to be searching for. Words like legal representation, Chicago lawyers, Chicago Law Firms, lawyer websites, the list goes on. Basically you would want your firms name to pop up at the top of the search results page. This can be done by using those key words through out your lawyer website. The more you mention a word on your website the more relevant the search engine thinks you are to the customers search.  This can also be done by including a blog on your website that you can beef up with all sorts of keys words. One thing you have to watch out for is over using the words. The search engine companies know bout the little tricks people use to make sure their website is at the top of the list. So let’s say they catch you dedicating an entire page to using the words Chicago Lawyer over and over; they will black list your website and you will not get any more traffic from that search engine, which is really bad.

The other way that you can get your lawyer website to the top of the list of the search results page is to pay for it. Ever notice when ever you do a search, at the top and/or the side of the webpage there are highlighted sites that have a little description on them. They are called pay per click ads. Those websites paid to be at the top of that list. So let’s say you are a Chicago Law Firm and you take out a pay per click on Google to show up whenever anyone types in Chicago Lawyers or Chicago Law Firm. Your firm would show up at the top of that list depending on how much you paid. Now of course different key words cost more. Like Lawyers would cost more then Elgin Illinois Lawyers because the results are narrowed down by the key words. It costs a little money to take out a pay per click ad, but think about the return on that type of investment.

All the things mentioned above fall into the category know as SEO. SEO is quite a big business these days. There are companies that just do SEO for websites, and they charge a lot to do it too. DreamCo Design does free SEO on all the websites we build. We also submit your website to all the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, MSN and others. We can even set you up with pay per click ads on anyone of those search engines we submitted your lawyer website to.

So what are you waiting for? If you have a Lawyer or Law Firm website you are looking to have designed you found the right place. No one has the success rating and customer service skills we do. Give DreamCo Design a call to see what we can do for all your lawyer web design needs. If you are looking for a little more information check out DreamCo Design - Lawyer Web Design.
