S3D Technology - Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some commonly asked questions we get about out S3D technology and 3D web design.
What does S3D stand for?
S3D stands for site 3D (website 3D) in its long form.
Is S3D a new technology that DreamCo Design developed?
S3D is a concept, not a technology which DreamCo Design is applying. The technology, while in its infant stages, is powered by 3D capturing devices, Nvidia 3D Vision hardware, and file formats such as .JPS and .MPO.
Is the entire website that you develop in 3D?
No. In theory, it would be possible, however a website as a whole being completely in 3D would appear a bit overwhelming and difficult to follow. The best use of 3D is utilizing the S3D standards which allow the technology to be implemented appropriately, utilizing 3D pictures and individual 3D page links. The end result is a masterful website with 3D content.
How do you make the content 3D?
DreamCo Design captures raw 3D images and video utilizing 3D equipment. We can also manipulate certain files appropriately to be 3D. Once captured, we apply or unique editing methods and output settings to prepare it for your site.
How much does a 3D website cost?
Everything DreamCo Design develops is a custom solution. Our 3D solutions start at $10K. Please see our pricing page for more information on 3D (S3D) websites.
Is a 3D website still optimized and marketing-ready?
Yes. Just like any other site we build. We will take care of the title tags, description tags, keywords, manual submission to the search engines, and so on.
Can any visitor see the 3D content?
No. In order to view the 3D content they must have a 3D capable monitor, a 3D capable video card, and the appropriate 3D glasses. This technology is becoming more and more mainstream for end-users and over time, many users will be able to view the content in much the same way other technology has moved along. The technology is powered by Nvidia's 3D Vision.
It is important to remember that 2D versions of the material will still be viewable by the user and the elite S3D website itself is still completely viewable. The full 3D experience certainly is nice, but even without the visitor being able to see the material, their experience is enhanced and your marketing goal of driving visitors through curiosity has been executed. DreamCo Design also offers 3D tradeshow ready computer setups and marketing solutions to help ensure your business allows prospects that are offline to see the full 3D solution should you want them to.
